Pickleball Net Dimensions
The height of a pickleball net is less than the height of a tennis net. A pickleball net is 36 inches high at the side posts and 34 inches high in the middle, whereas a tennis net is 42 inches high at the side posts and 36 inches at the middle. Both kinds of nets have a similar composition and setup.
Pickleball Net - Strategy And Tactics
Pickleball is played at the net, unlike tennis. Tennis is mostly a serve and volley game, where pickleball is a serve and establish a position at the "no volley zone" (kitchen) line on both sides of the net. Pickleball players do this to gain control of the no volley zone and to move the ball around carefully within the no volley zone until there is an opportunity for a winning shot. The net in pickleball is used more strategically than in tennis.
When playing pickleball on converted tennis courts, or permanent pickleball courts the nets will be permanently installed with posts anchored into the concrete surface. Portable net systems are available for a variety of applications. Some can be used when sharing courts with tennis players. Others are more portable and can be used anywhere there is enough surface to play on. During the 2020 covid crisis many public courts were closed, and players were setting up temporary courts in large driveways and residential cul de sacs to play with smaller groups. The portable net systems give players the flexibility to play without having to always find courts when traveling.
